An affiliate program, also called associate programs, is one the most cost-effective ways to advertise and promote your website. Simply put, an affiliate program is an arrangement in which an online merchant pays the affiliate a commission to send them traffic. The affiliate usually by links on his website promotes the merchant site and is paid according to a particular agreement. This agreement is usually based on the number of people the affiliate sends to the merchant's site, or the number of people they send who buy something or perform some other action. Affiliate programs are usually multi-tiered which is also known as mlm or multi-level marketing. Basically, if a link on an affiliate site brings the merchant site traffic or money, the merchant site pays the affiliate site according to their agreement. Recruiting affiliates is an excellent way to sell products online, and can also be a cheap and effective marketing strategy. It is also a great way to get the word out about your site. However there is still no guarantee that once an affiliate program is created that it will be successful. For that to happen there are many factors that come into play.
